Laurent Grandidier

Chairman of the Board

Laurent is a global medtech executive with talent for turning research projects into commercially viable companies. He is a veteran in innovative cardiovascular devices, with over fifteen years of experience in medical device development and commercial leadership and a solid track record of successfully building and leading diverse, cross functional teams for both start-ups and Fortune 500 companies, including atHeart Medical, Xeltis, Endosense, Boston Scientific, Guidant, and Procter and Gamble.

Laurent holds several independent board positions and has received numerous professional awards including the 2018 Outstanding Executive at the Global Business Excellence Awards and the Best European CEO in Medical Devices by European CEO Magazine in 2015. He holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from the National Institute for Applied Sciences in Lyon, France, and an MBA from INSEAD, France-Singapore.

Charles Woler

Board Member

Charles Woler M.D., Ph.D., MBA has 35 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech and medtech industry in Europe and the United States. A seasoned global executive in large multinational pharmaceutical companies and smaller, earlier stage companies, he was formerly Chairman and CEO of Roche France, President and CEO of Cadus Pharmaceutical in the USA, Chairman of SmithKline Beecham Europe and General Manager of Bouchara Group, before heading Neuro3d, Endotis Pharma and the Biomnis Group, acquired in 2015 by Eurofins Scientific. 

Charles also serves as operating partner with multiple private equity funds and holds several executive and non-executive chairman positions in different countries, including France, UK, U.S., and Israel.  Charles was Associate Professor of Strategy, Management and Organization, Paris University. He graduated from Université Denis Diderot (Paris VII), and Lyon II. 

Michel Darnaud

Board Member

Michel Darnaud is a seasoned executive with over 40 years of industry experience in the cardiovascular medical device industry, including three decades in international senior management positions. He has a wealth of experience gained in global leadership roles, including President of LivaNova (former Sorin Group) Cardiac Surgery Division, President Europe at Boston Scientific, Chairman of the public company Stentys and President of the European Cardiovascular Business at Baxter International, among others.

His deep industry knowledge also springs from his previous roles as Chairman of Eucomed, the European Medical Device Industry Association, and as a consultant in executive search at Spencer Stuart, focusing on medtech.

Edouard Caram

Board Member

Edouard Caram is a passionate life science professional and investor, and an entrepreneur. He has covered managerial roles at Johnson and Johnson in Europe and at PDL Biopharma, in their humanised monoclonal antibodies portfolio. He is currently an investor at French healthcare business angel network Angels Santé and previously worked at the international life sciences venture capital fund Sofinnova Partners. An opera enthusiast, Edouard built the invitation and e-ticketing French platforms Closivint and Closevent, to promote and sell tickets to theatre, live shows and opera.

Edouard is a biochemist by training (Université Paris VII), with an MBA from Beirut ESA (HEC-ESCP), a Master of Finance from Sciences-Po, Paris and executive trainings at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania on M&A, licensing and the pharma industry.

Ludovic Melly

Ludovic Melly is a cardiac surgeon at University Hospital Center CHU UCLouvain in Namur, Belgium and a lecturer at the Catholic University of Louvain–UCLouvain, Belgium, focussing on therapeutic growth factors for heart blood vessels. To date, Ludovic has co-authored over 20 publications in peer-reviewed medical and scientific journals, he is a fellow of the European Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery and a specialist for cardiac surgery at the Swiss Medical Association. His advisory role at Open Stent Solution combines his two main interests and expertise as a clinician and medical researcher.
